New England Clam Chowder excellent. Mussels in a butter garlic sauce accented with pepperchinis best ever. Fried clams tasted New England-fresh. Fish Platter cooked to perfection. Nice fresh taste and texture. Egg Custard phenomenal. Peanut butter-Turtle Cheese Cake worth fighting over. Service from welcome to departure friendly, accurate, checked back for satisfaction and knowledgeable about all items on the menu. Small, local neighborhood restaurant with nicely stocked bar, but with BIG QUALITY TASTE AND SERVICE. Prices are perfect for family eating.

Great little place, not like the big & noisy seafood restaurants. Great service, always great food regardless of what the choice may be.
I lived in Portsmouth NH/Kittery Maine and this food is every bit as good. The first place in years I found Manhattan Clam Chowder, and the best I have had !! (Get a quart to go, you'll be glad you did).

Once you find Jim's Chowder House, you won't be going anywhere else. In this day and age of the chain/franchised restaurant, Jim's Chowder House is a rare find in this area of Central NY State. You don't have to be afraid of a bad meal here. And, the bar is a full service bar which still serves those hard-to-find cocktails of yesteryear. The staff is professional and attentive. Jim's place is casual dining at its best in the Utica/Rome area. Bon Appetite , Aprovecha, Enjoy!!

Outstanding Chef, Staff, atmosphere AND, the food was superb! Chef John is incredible! The dinning experience was absolutely Fabulous! What a find! The New England Clam Chowder was superb! The Calamari delicious! And, I'm NOT a big fan of Calamari. Chef John even prepared a complimentary side of Okra for us! For those that know, Okra is a VERY difficult vegetable to prepare correctly! Chef John NAILED It!
If you are within 100 miles of the Chowder house it's well worth the drive! Come here for those FABULOUS dinner plans and, you'll be glad you listened to me! Please send all donations for this awesome tip. I will accept!

Wow what a great place the food is excellent and almost Gourmet level great selection of seafood very comfortable seating full bar what more can I say oh and the best chowder soup on the planet come check this place out you won't be disappointed it is a little pricey but it's worth all the money they ask the food is amazing

We had homemade New England Clam Chowder, IT WAS TO DIE FOR! We also got Fish & Chips, GREAT FOOD & GREAT SERVICE!

I haven't been here in years. They had a good crowd. The wait time wasn't long at all to be seated. The atmosphere was nice and the food was delicious. We all had the fish fry with sweet potatoes fries. Their ginseng honey raspberry tea was "the key drink" for me!! It tasted so good. Our waitress was excellent!! Big Kudus to her I didn't catch her name but she had a splash of red in her hair!! She was very prompt, professional & funny to which made a dining experience fantastic!!

Wheelchair accessibility: It was all on one level very easy to maneuver a wheelchair in there.
